Hoofenfeather Farm Boarding

Hoofenfeather Farm

Boarding

This is our second year of boarding other peoples horses at our farm. For people to come and enjoy the pleasures owning a horse at your farm is very satisfying. Most rewarding is when people thank you for going that extra step in caring for their horse, regardless if it is a health issue, a feeding adjustment or something as simple as cream on a bite or a scratch, that is true satisfaction for us and tells us we are doing what is right by our clients.

We still maintain the same approach when it comes to boarding, people with horses are the same as people without horses, some you can please and some you can't. It is important to us to take on clients that are reasonable and responsible, that way everyone gets along and in return our clients get the piece of mind of knowing their horse is being taken care of properly.

We have daily turnout, weather permitting. Even in bad days during the winter we try to get the horses out even if it is only for a quick roll or a scratch, just to shake off the stall jitters. During the warmer months we try to keep the horses out 24/7 unless there is a reason to bring them in due to extreme weather or health issues. Most times we let the animal tell us when the want inside. If the horses are standing by the door of the barn staring at the door, chances are pretty good they want inside.

We try to keep a constant supply of hay available when the horses are inside along with fresh water. Grains are fed as per the owners request and medications are given as per the owners request.

Our farrier visits the farm on a regular basis and our Vet has an emergency response time of 10-15 minutes.

We have had to turn down several requests to board earlier this year due to lambing and the lack of space since the sheep barn was not completed. With the sheep barn completion by the end of the summer this will free up more stalls for larger animals in the main barn allowing us to accept additional boarders.
